OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens Urgent Care coverage.
The provider will work 3 shifts per week, beginning as soon as credentialed and continuing until a permanent provider is hired. Clinics are open 7 days a week, with shifts running from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and extending beyond 12 hours depending on patient flow.
Patient Population
All ages, from birth through adulthood
100% outpatient
Approximately 25–50 patients per day, depending on clinic volume
Higher patient volumes expected during cold and flu season
Higher-acuity cases will be stabilized and referred to an appropriate emergency or higher level of care
Responsibilities & Required Skills
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients
Perform simple, intermediate, and complex laceration repair
Suturing and stapling
Incision and drainage (I&D), including packing
Foreign body removal
Minor burn management
Skin lesion care
Orthopedic and injury stabilization
Splinting and casting
Joint reduction
Diagnostic and point-of-care testing
X-ray interpretation
Electrocardiogram (EKG) evaluation
Interpret rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, and blood glucose testing
Epistaxis management, including anterior nasal packing and chemical cautery
Cerumen impaction removal
Nebulizer treatments
Initial emergency stabilization
REQUIREMENTS
Board Certified
Active Virginia license
Active BLS
Active DEA
Minimum 1 year of experience in Emergency Department/Emergency Room, Primary Care, or Urgent Care
Clean background with no malpractice or license issues
Local candidates preferred
Client will not reimburse travel expenses; providers requiring travel must accept an inclusive rate
CREDENTIALING
Estimated credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days
