General Cardiologist MD/DO - Flexible Full-Time Coverage in Illinois

Aya Locums is partnering with a hospital-based cardiology program seeking a General Cardiologist for ongoing coverage beginning in November 2026. The need is expected to continue until a permanent cardiologist is identified and could run approximately one year.

The standard schedule is Monday - Friday for approximately 40 hours per week, although a Monday - Thursday schedule may also be considered. The cardiologist will provide a mix of outpatient clinic care and inpatient consultations while managing a broad General Cardiology population including patients with coronary artery disease, hypertension, and heart failure.

Clinical responsibilities include interpreting EKGs and echocardiograms and supervising stress testing. There are no procedural responsibilities listed for this assignment.

Some after-hours coverage is included, although the current expectation is primarily telephone-based support rather than routinely returning to the hospital.

The cardiologist will practice as the primary physician with support from an APP approximately two days per week, a Medical Assistant, nursing staff, and other clinical support. The facility uses Epic.

The client is seeking a Board Certified Cardiologist with BLS and prior Epic experience. Cardiologists with an active Illinois license are welcome, and physicians with an active IMLC Letter of Qualification who can obtain Illinois in time for credentialing are also worth a conversation.
