Gastroenterology Physician Opportunity – Inpatient Coverage with Advanced Procedures

Job description

An established acute care health system is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterology Physician for a locum tenens assignment providing comprehensive inpatient coverage across two affiliated hospital sites. This is a high-acuity, procedure-focused opportunity ideal for providers experienced in ERCP and managing a busy GI service.

Position Highlights
Start Date: June 22, 2026
Contract Length: 4 months, with ongoing potential
Schedule: Approximately 13–16 shifts per month
Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Call: Required (night call with off-site coverage and callback for emergencies)
Setting: Acute care hospital, inpatient GI service
Clinical Responsibilities
Perform inpatient gastroenterology consults, rounding, and procedures
Conduct ERCP procedures (approximately 7–10 per week)
Manage a daily patient volume averaging around 25+ patients
Provide care across two nearby hospital locations within the same system
Participate in call rotation, including off-site night call with emergency callback
Practice Environment
Busy, high-volume GI service with a strong procedural focus
Support from APPs, PAs, RNs, and clinical staff
Daytime in-house GI hospitalist support with additional overnight call structure
Collaborative, team-based care model
Technology & Systems
EMR systems include Meditech, eClinicalWorks (eCW), and Provation for GI documentation
Requirements
Board Certification in Gastroenterology (required)
Active state medical license (preferred at time of submission)
DEA required for credentialing
Demonstrated experience with ERCP procedures
Ability to manage a high-volume inpatient service
Additional Details
Coverage includes two affiliated hospital sites within close proximity
Orientation provided prior to assignment start
Privileging and onboarding timelines may apply
