Job description

A Brief Overview
The psychometrist is responsible for the administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological tests under the supervision of a clinical psychologist or clinical neuropsychologist.

In their work the psychometrist must know and place emphasis on adherence to standardized test administration procedures, accurately scoring assessments with appropriate norms, and providing detailed behavioral observations of the examinee that may be used by the psychologist/neuropsychologist to aid in test interpretation. The psychometrist may also be responsible for collecting demographic information from a patient/guardian. In addition, this person may also be responsible for various clerical or administrative duties that include, but are not limited, test scoring, entering data, and the procurement of testing supplies with accountability for maintaining inventory to support patient care.

What you will do

At the direction and under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, functions relatively autonomously in administering, scoring, and compiling the results of batteries of neuropsychological, psychological and achievement tests and contributes to the documentation of testing encounters. In addition, scores tests administered by psychologists and enters test data in forms to be included with evaluation reports.
Provides a written summary of the patient’s behavior during testing, including any interactions with the patient’s parents or peers that may be observed incidentally. Demonstrates awareness of ethical considerations and potential clinical issues that may arise during patient contacts and appropriately seeks supervision from licensed provider when situations arise.
Provides explanations of the assessment process to patients, family members, other professionals, and administrative staff and enlists their cooperation and assistance when necessary.
