Neurologist Needed for Locum Tenens Coverage at Inpatient Facility in Florida

About the facility

This inpatient hospital facility provides neurological services across the main hospital and an affiliated rehab facility, which is considered an extension of the primary coverage site. Stroke alerts originate from the hospital and three freestanding emergency departments, and the daily inpatient census can reach into the low 20s. The facility is supported by nursing staff and technicians to facilitate coordinated neurological patient care.

Visitors may explore Everglades National Park, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, and wildlife viewing opportunities, as well as airboat tours and marine activities throughout the state. Cultural destinations such as the National Naval Aviation Museum, which houses over 150 restored aircraft, and scenic attractions along both coasts provide year-round options for clinicians on assignment.

About the clinician's workday

Clinicians will provide inpatient neurology coverage structured around 24-hour shifts, consisting of a 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM hospitalist shift covering rounding, consults, and stroke alerts, followed by a 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM call period for stroke alerts and hospital calls. Coverage spans 5 to 10 shifts per period and extends to an affiliated rehab facility, where clinicians are expected to manage patients admitted there as well. EEG interpretation is a required component of this assignment, and clinicians must log in to the facility system prior to the first day of work, with orientation scheduled the day before the first assigned shift.
