Neuromuscular Neurologist

Job description

A hospital in Michigan is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Neuromuscular Neurologist for ongoing locum tenens coverage. This is an excellent opportunity to provide specialized care for patients with neuromuscular disorders while serving in a leadership role overseeing the Neurodiagnostics/EMG Lab.

Position Details
Start date: December 7, 2026, or as soon as credentialed
Contract length: 3 months with potential for ongoing extension
Schedule: 2–3 consecutive days per week, approximately 1 week per month; occasional coverage of up to 2 weeks per month
Shift hours: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Call: Up to 4 night call shifts per month
Expected volume: Approximately 13 EMGs per day
Practice setting: Hospital

Clinical Scope

The physician will focus on the evaluation and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, including:

Neuropathy
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
Other neuromuscular conditions
A small component of general neurology may be included

The role also includes leadership responsibilities for the Neurodiagnostics/EMG Lab


Required Skills and Qualifications
Formal training in electrodiagnostic medicine through residency and/or fellowship
Fellowship training in Neuromuscular Neurology or Clinical Neurophysiology with an EMG/neuromuscular emphasis
Completion of a Neurology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency
Demonstrated competency performing and interpreting:
Needle EMG
Nerve conduction studies (NCS)
Ongoing CME in electrodiagnostic medicine
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Active Michigan medical license required; candidates willing to obtain licensure may be considered
